Cold Pressed Food
Naturis UK Ltd uses an alternative process to cook it’s dog food, called cold pressed food. Cold pressed food uses a unique process that harnesses low temperatures to create a complete, balanced dog food that’s as close to natural, raw feeding as possible.
Cold pressing itself is not a new development. It’s an ancient process that enables us to extract the goodness of dog food ingredients without degrading them. Over the last 50 or so years it’s been used more and more in the production of animal feeds such as those for cattle, horses and pigs and more recently our pets.
Cold-pressing is arguably the best way to prepare a dry pet food as it means the dog food isn’t exposed to the potentially damaging high temperatures normally associated with dry pet food production and should, therefore, leave the food with much more of its natural nutrients.
Did you know that most dog food kibbles are cooked at EXTREMELY high temperatures, well above 100° C? It’s known as ‘extrusion’. As you can imagine, this intense blast of heat is not ideal for key nutrients, particularly fatty acids and some vitamins.
